I Made the List! WeAreTheCity Rising Star Awards

working girl london rising starLast week, WeAreTheCity announced their shortlist for 2016’s Rising Star Awards…and I am on it! 🎉🎈👯🍹 WeAreTheCity is a resource for women in business in the UK, India and further afield. The website is packed with useful articles (some of which were penned by yours truly 😉), job postings, event listings and more, and the team work with some of the biggest companies in the world, helping them to attract female talent and improve their diversity. WATC launched the Rising Stars Awards last year to acknowledge high potential women in multiple industries who are below management level. There is a wealth of recognition initiatives for great leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators, but there is not quite the same enthusiasm for younger women or those who are earlier in their careers. This is exactly the same audience I try to inspire and support with Working Girl London blog and events, so it is a true honour to be recognised by an awards programme after my own heart.

I have been shortlisted as a Rising Star in Technology, along with 9 other super impressive women. There are also 9 other categories including Banking and Sports, each with 10 shortlisted individuals. We will be celebrating our achievement together later this month, and I cannot wait to meet the other candidates. The final winners from each category will be announced next month – I am keeping my fingers crossed but regardless of the result, I am so proud to have made it into the shortlist! If you are a fan of my blog, events, or generally want to support me, I would love for you to cast a vote of support here. Just select ‘Technology’ from the drop down, and then pick me!

If you’re interested in learning more or getting involved in the awards, WATC will be hosting a series of Twitter chats, all of which should be interesting to any working girls, so get involved! The chats will involve this year’s shortlist, last year’s shortlist, WATC HQ and anyone else who wants to take part. The first chat will be on Thursday 5 May at 12.30.  The topic will be “What’s the best piece of career advice you have been given?”.  @WATC_Updates will be running the chat, all you need to do is share your answer and views using the #watctop100 hashtag. The remaining chats will be as follows:

  • Thursday 12 May at 12.30 – “How have you benefited from mentors?”
  • Thursday 19 May at 12.30 – “Have you ever experienced Imposter Syndrome?”
  • Thursday 26 May at 12.30 – “What are your top tips for Networking?”
  • Thursday 2 June at 12.30 – “Who are your role models and why?”
Do let me know on social if you’re planning on joining the chats, check out the other shortlist categories and vote for anyone who particularly impresses you, and make sure to browse through WATC main website!

Do you know any of the other shortlisted Rising Stars? Let me know in the comments!
