What is it?
Butterfly Twists is a brand built to save our soles (sorry, had to do it). The footwear brand is on a mission to prove that, when it comes to women’s shoes, comfort and style don’t have to be mutually exclusive. It offers a range of foldable flats and wellies (which you may remember from the latest season of The Apprentice!), along with some summer sandals.
Who is it for?
Butterfly Twists shoes appeal to a wide audience but are aimed mainly at women who desire a practical pair of shoes yet don’t want to compromise on style. They are ideal for the average working girl as they are easy to carry around in your hanndbag, ready to be your saviour after a long day in the office with heels, but equally can be worn all day as a smart alternative to heels. As well as this, the products are well priced to suit young professionals just starting out in the workplace, while the premium range caters to those with a bit more $$ to spend.
What’s the 411?
I went along to the launch of the new SS15 range with the theme of ‘Anytime Anywhere’. I have to say that the shoes look great – even some which I thought were just okay from looking at the catalogue, I loved in real life…I literally want every single pair! Great news for the team at BT, terrible news for my bank account. The range is broad enough that some pairs are perfect even for a very corporate environment while others you would happily lounge around in all weekend.
I got a few pairs of my own to put to the test. The first thing that strikes you when putting the shoes on is the unique memory foam sole. They are so, unbelievably comfortable, like wearing slippers! This memory foam is designed to mould to your feet on the first wear (yes, like the mattress) guaranteeing comfort in the long run (make sure you don’t let your friend try them on before you…). Once I eventually got over the excitement of walking on cotton wool, I noticed that the shoes do not look or feel like foldable shoes once they’re on. No crease lines along the side, no digging in at the back, no banana shaped feet – they just look like normal ballet pumps.
I have two pairs of these now. One pair which I intend to wear in the office and on days when I’m wearing heels, I will have them in my bag ready for the commute home. The other pair are my weekend pair 🙂 Look out for them both making an appearance on my Instagram! The campaign slogan ‘Anytime Anywhere’ fits perfectly with the product, and the fun video they have produced is a good watch!
A pair of Butterfly Twist ballet pumps will set you back anywhere between £25 and £70 depending on the style and material. The wellies are £55-£60 and the sandals are £28. You can purchase a pair directly from their website or from their stockists; House of Fraser, Sole Trader, Joy, Office, Very.co.uk and Cloggs.co.uk
Every working girl in the city should have a pair of these beauties, whether for commuting or for casual Fridays. They also make a great gift as they come in lovely packaging with a carry bag included. My very favourite styles are below but you can see the whole range online
