This week, I tried a Bunny Bootcamp class. ‘What bootcamp?!’ I hear you ask. Bunny Bootcamp. Not ‘jumping-around-wagging-imaginary-tails-sniffing-every-5-seconds’ bunny bootcamp. More like ‘serving-hugh-hefner-a-glass-of-champagne-in-a-really-upbeat-way’ bunny bootcamp. That’s right ladies, a workout that takes inspiration from the world famous Playboy Bunnies. Don’t worry, it’s not as inapproriate as it sounds…
1. Barely broke a sweat
2. Too out of breath to sing along
3. In the zone!
4. Couldn’t move the next day
The class scores a 2.5 – this class combines fast choreography with some tough conditioning. It is definitely a good workout but not too difficult a class. There are ‘levels’ for some excercises so it works if you’re a beginner but also if you want more of a challenge. The abs section at the end makes sit ups much more fun than usual but the main focus is cardio, choreo and legs. One thing that is certainly not lacking – squats!
1. I would rather be in bed
2. Glad I tried it once
3. Such fun!
4. Sign me up now
Take me to the mansion, it’s a 4! – as long as you don’t take yourself too seriously, this class is a hoot! Esmée the instructor is fun and relaxed but still motivates you to push yourself. Mainly by playing ‘Run the World’ just at the point where you body wants to give up – it’s difficult to quit when Beyonce is telling you that you run this mutha…
The choreography and workouts are enjoyable and always fit perfectly with the music, which keeps you going. Noises are also encouraged. Where else can you get away with squeeling ‘ooo, ooo’ at the top of your voice while you chest pump?
The Fine Print
Bunny Bootcamp is currently exclusive to Gymbox. Classes are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at various Gymbox branches. For further details, get in touch with Bunny Bootcamp below.
This class is consistently fully booked and I can see why. The organisers promise that if you attend a class, ‘you’ll shake it, smile and leave feeling fabulous’ and I couldn’t agree more!
